What Is Izocam 1 1/2 Inch (48 mm) Glass Wool Prefabricated Pipe?
The Izocam 1 1/2 inch (48 mm) Glass Wool Prefabricated Pipe is a high-density glass wool insulation product designed for thermal insulation in industrial and mechanical piping systems. It is widely used in radiator systems, central heating networks, and solar energy installations.
Available in both unfaced and aluminum foil-faced versions, this product reduces heat loss in pipelines while also minimizing the risk of condensation and freezing. In addition, it helps reduce vibration and noise transmission, contributing to more efficient system performance.
Specially designed for pipes with a 48 mm nominal diameter, this prefabricated insulation solution offers long-lasting and reliable thermal protection.
Applications
- Industrial piping systems
- Radiator and central heating installations
- Solar energy systems
- Hot and cold water pipelines
- Pipelines exposed to freezing and condensation risk
- Systems requiring noise and vibration insulation in pressurized water lines
Installation Method
Before installation, select the product that matches the 48 mm nominal diameter pipe. The insulation is opened along its factory-cut slit and placed over the pipeline, ensuring tight closure at all joints without gaps.
For Unfaced Products:
After installation, the outer surface can be covered with:
- Bitumen emulsion
- Bituminous membrane
- Galvanized metal jacketing
- Aluminum cladding
For Aluminum Foil-Faced Products:
- Overlap joints must be sealed with self-adhesive aluminum foil tape at least 7.5 cm wide to prevent vapor penetration.
- In double-layer applications, joints should be staggered, and the final layer’s joint should be positioned at the underside of the pipe whenever possible.
