FİXA REPOX 552: Epoxy-Based Paint and Coating Suitable for Contact with Drinking Water
FİXA REPOX 552 is a high-performance, epoxy resin-based, two-component, solvent-free paint and coating system. It has been specially developed for safe use on surfaces that come into contact with drinking water. Providing long-lasting protection in areas requiring high hygiene standards, this product forms a durable coating resistant to water, chemicals, and mechanical impacts.
What is FİXA REPOX 552?
FİXA REPOX 552 is a professional protective coating system manufactured using advanced epoxy coating technology. Thanks to its solvent-free formulation, it can be safely used on surfaces in contact with water, especially drinking water tanks and reservoirs.
Its low permeability, high chemical resistance, and robust film structure provide long-term protection for both concrete and metal surfaces. These properties make it an ideal coating solution for industrial environments where hygiene is a priority.
Areas of Application
- Drinking water reservoirs and water tanks
- Concrete and metal surfaces
- Production and storage areas exposed to water
- Hospitals, laboratories, and hygienic facilities
- Food, pharmaceutical, paper, and paint manufacturing plants
- Industrial kitchens, cafeterias, and laundry facilities

Application Conditions
1. Surface Preparation
The substrate must be clean, sound, and dry. Dust, oil, grease, release agents, and curing residues must be completely removed. Moisture content of concrete substrates should not exceed 4%. For metal surfaces, abrasive blasting to Sa 2½ standard is recommended.
2. Mixing
Premix Component A briefly, then add Component B. Mix thoroughly using a low-speed mixer for approximately 3–4 minutes until a homogeneous mixture is achieved. Apply immediately after mixing.
3. Application
The product can be applied using a brush, roller, or airless spray equipment. A waiting period of approximately 16–24 hours between coats is recommended. Ensure the surface is clean before applying the next coat.
4. Curing
The coated surface can generally be opened to light foot traffic after approximately 24 hours. Full mechanical and chemical resistance develops after 7 days. For drinking water tanks, wait at least 7 days for complete curing before commissioning.
Application Recommendations
- Ambient and surface temperatures should not fall below +10°C during application.
- The substrate temperature must be at least 3°C above the dew point.
- Do not add water, solvent, or any other additives to the mixture.
- The coating should not be exposed to water, oil, or chemicals before full curing.
- Ensure adequate ventilation in enclosed areas during application.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Can FİXA REPOX 552 be used in drinking water tanks?
Yes. The product is specifically developed for contact with drinking water and contains no solvents.
Can it be applied on metal surfaces?
Yes. It provides excellent adhesion on metal surfaces prepared to Sa 2½ blasting standards.
Can it be used outdoors?
The product is primarily designed for indoor applications. For outdoor use, a polyurethane topcoat is recommended for UV resistance.
How long should I wait before allowing contact with water?
For drinking water tanks, a minimum curing period of 7 days is required before use.
What is the consumption rate?
Average consumption is 200–400 g/m². Actual consumption may vary depending on the number of coats and substrate absorbency.
