FİXA REPOX 552: Epoxy-Based Paint and Coating Suitable for Contact with Drinking Water

FİXA REPOX 552 is a high-performance, epoxy resin-based, two-component, solvent-free paint and coating system. Thanks to its formulation suitable for contact with drinking water, it can be safely used in environments where hygiene standards are critical. Its durable structure, high chemical resistance, and long-lasting protective film make it an effective solution for industrial and technical applications.

What is FİXA REPOX 552?

REPOX 552 is a professional coating product developed with epoxy coating technology, providing high resistance to water and many chemicals. Its special solvent-free formulation makes it ideal for use in drinking water reservoirs, concrete tanks, and metal tanks.

Its low permeability, high chemical resistance, and long-lasting coating layer provide effective protection in hygiene-sensitive environments.

Applications

  • Drinking water reservoirs and water tanks
  • Concrete and metal surfaces
  • Production and storage areas exposed to water
  • Hospitals, laboratories, and hygienic facilities
  • Food, pharmaceutical, paper, and paint manufacturing plants
  • Industrial kitchens, cafeterias, and laundries
  • Steel structures and machinery

  • Solvent-free, environmentally friendly structure with low VOC content
  • High mechanical and chemical resistance
  • Strong protective barrier providing water impermeability
  • Creates a smooth, easy-to-clean surface
  • Long-lasting and durable coating system
  • Excellent adhesion to concrete and metal surfaces
  • Dust-free, hygienic, and durable film structure

Application Stages

1. Surface Preparation

The application surface must be sound, clean, dry, and free from dust. Concrete substrates should have a maximum moisture content of 4%. Oil, grease, form-release agents, and curing residues must be completely removed. For metal surfaces, abrasive blasting to Sa 2½ is recommended.

2. Mixing

First, mix Component A thoroughly, then add Component B. Mix with a low-speed mixer for approximately 3–4 minutes until a homogeneous consistency is achieved. The prepared mixture should be applied immediately without delay.

3. Application

The product can be applied using a brush, roller, or airless spray equipment. A waiting period of approximately 16–24 hours is recommended between coats. Surface cleanliness should be checked before applying subsequent coats.

4. Curing

The surface can generally be opened to pedestrian traffic after approximately 24 hours. Full mechanical and chemical resistance develops after 7 days. For drinking water tanks, a minimum curing period of 7 days should be observed before putting the tank into service.

Application Recommendations

  • Ambient and surface temperatures should not fall below +10°C during application.
  • Surface temperature must be at least 3°C above the dew point.
  • Do not add water, solvents, or other additives to the mixture.
  • The coating should not be exposed to water, oil, or chemicals until curing is complete.
  • Adequate ventilation should be provided when working in enclosed areas.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Can FİXA REPOX 552 be used in drinking water reservoirs?

Yes. Thanks to its solvent-free composition and relevant certifications, it can be safely used in drinking water reservoirs.

Can it be applied to metal surfaces?

Yes. It provides excellent adhesion on metal surfaces prepared by abrasive blasting to Sa 2½.

Is it suitable for outdoor use?

The product is primarily designed for indoor applications. For outdoor exposure, a polyurethane topcoat is recommended to provide UV resistance.

When can the coated surface come into contact with water?

For drinking water tanks, a minimum curing period of 7 days should be completed before use.

What is the consumption rate?

Average consumption is 200–400 g/m². Actual consumption may vary depending on the number of coats and substrate absorbency.
