Application Procedure

1. Surface Preparation

Cement-Based Substrates

The substrate must be sound, level, clean, and free from dust, dirt, grease, and loose particles.

Areas requiring repair should be repaired using INNO-CRETE Series repair mortars before installation.

Highly Absorbent Surfaces

Highly absorbent substrates should be primed with FOX PRIMERA® FL220. Allow the primer to dry for a minimum of 8 hours before tiling.

Wood-Based Panels

  • Moisture content must not exceed 10%
  • Secure the panels firmly with screws
  • Fill expansion joints using FOX PURSEAL PS600 Polyurethane Sealant

2. Mixing

Pour the recommended amount of clean water into a suitable mixing container.

Gradually add FOX FLEXMORTAR® FX116 while mixing mechanically at 400–600 rpm for 3–4 minutes until a homogeneous consistency is achieved.

Allow the mixture to mature for 3 minutes, then remix for 1 minute before use.

Mixing Ratios

Grey (25 kg): 7.75 ±0.25 L water

White (25 kg): 8.25 ±0.25 L water

3. Application

Apply an approximately 1 mm contact layer using the flat side of the trowel.

Within the 30-minute open time, comb the adhesive in one direction using the notched side of the trowel.

For uneven tiles or natural stone, apply an additional 1 mm back coat to the rear of each tile to ensure full coverage.

Press each covering firmly into the adhesive to achieve complete contact.

Leave suitable grout joints according to tile size.

Grouting may begin approximately 24 hours later using INNO-FIX Series grouts.

4. Open Time Check

Perform the finger test to verify the adhesive's workability.

  • If adhesive transfers to your finger, installation can continue.
  • If no adhesive transfers, the open time has expired and fresh adhesive must be applied after removing the old material.

Consumption

Consumption varies according to the notch size of the trowel.

Approximate consumption: 3.5–8.0 kg/m²

Packaging, Storage & Shelf Life
